The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed to the meeting the Mayor of Strigari Municipality, Damiano Baffa, this Arbëresh municipality in the Calabria region and near the city of Cozenza, in the south of Italy.
First, the Prime Minister welcomed President Baffa to Kosovo, expressing his pleasure and honor to welcome him on this visit and to have him among us.
For his part, President Baffa said that he feels honored and happy to be in Kosovo, where he appreciated the reception given to him, which he described as exceptional. He added that the Arber community in Italy, in the area of Calabria, has been preserving the tradition, culture and Arber language for 600 years.
Together, Prime Minister Kurti and Mayor Baffa discussed the possibilities for cooperation between the Municipality of Strigari and the municipalities of Arbëre with the municipalities of Kosovo, and those in projects that particularly affect the field of culture.
Prime Minister Kurti expressed the will and readiness for cooperation in the organization of activities aimed at promoting Arbëresh culture in Kosovo and vice versa, but also joint seminars to deepen knowledge on the recognition of the important role of Arbëresh.
As Mayor Baffa presented to Prime Minister Kurti, among other things, the book of poems by Arbër author Giuseppe Serembe, he invited the Prime Minister to visit Strigari and Arbër municipalities in the near future. Prime Minister Kurti thanked him heartily for the invitation, the conversation and the meeting, expressing the desire for close and productive cooperation between us.
