Prime Minister Kurti welcomed the German Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, today welcomed the German Minister of Defense, Boris Pistorius, who is staying in Kosovo on an official visit together with a delegation composed of members of the German Bundestag.

Welcoming him on his first visit to Kosovo, Prime Minister Kurti, at the beginning of the meeting, expressed his gratitude and of the people and the state of Kosovo for the historic and irreplaceable role of Germany in the last 25 years, from the liberation , to independence and state building, and continued assistance in European and Euro-Atlantic integration. He singled out the role of German soldiers and officers in Kosovo within KFOR who enjoy popularity among citizens who are grateful for their service.

Further, the prime minister expressed his appreciation for the role that Germany has played in strengthening European unity against Russia after its aggression in Ukraine.

German Defense Minister Pistorius thanked Prime Minister Kurti for his warm hospitality during his first visit. He expressed his happiness that German soldiers enjoy respect and popularity among citizens. He emphasized that Germany, together with its NATO partners, has played an important role in Kosovo in recent decades, and that it is interested in continuing to contribute to the region’s stability, integrity, sovereignty and security. of Kosovo.

During the conversation, Prime Minister Kurti informed Minister Pistorius about the results of governance, the prioritization of security and defense in the 2024 budget and about the latest developments in the country. Together they talked about strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation in the field of defense.

The meeting between Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Pistorius was followed by another meeting with extended delegations where members of the German Bundestag and the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, from the parliamentary committees for security and defense issues, were also present.

After these meetings, Minister Pistorius was also received by the Minister of Defense, Ejup Macedonci, with whom he held a bilateral meeting
