The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Ambassador of Germany, Jorn Rohde, visited the non-governmental organization Diakonie, where they were greeted by the executive director, Bernd Baumgarten.
The Prime Minister saw closely and appreciated the work performed by this organization in the training center, the therapy centre, the farm that engages people with disabilities, the work in counseling and assistance for returnees, the kindergarten, as well as the work in psychosocial groups with youth and children. During the visit, the support offered to marginalized and people in need, who need the most help, was especially appreciated.
He emphasized the importance of the bottom-up approach, when it comes to changes in the status quo, which this organization implements, which brings significant and lasting impact on the community and society.
He also visited the training center Diakonie Training Center (DTC), where he met young people from different communities who follow the training in this center in different fields, such as: dry construction, water supply installations, household electrical installations, ceramics, central heating installations, hairdressing, tailoring, furniture, barber and English language.
The representatives of the organization informed the Prime Minister that about 600 candidates per year attend professional training in this center. Furthermore, they talked about the cooperation with Arkitekt Sinani high school, in Mitrovica, for carrying out the professional practical part in two profiles.
Appreciating the continuous support from the German government and organizations, during this visit they discussed the possibilities of increasing cooperation and institutional support for the activity of this organization, for the benefit of the community and society.
