The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, during his stay in Istanbul, visited the military drone production factory, Baykar, where he was received by the Executive Director, Haluk Bayraktar and the Director of Technology, Selçuk Bayraktar.
Baykar is a pioneering Turkish company in the defense and aviation industry. It is the first Turkish company to produce unmanned military aircraft or drones and is especially internationally known for the production of Bayraktar TB-2 drones. This company has a total of 4500 employees, half of whom are engineers and the average age of employees is 29 years.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the Baykar company for the way in which every purchase of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kosovo has been treated with high priority. There, he was informed about the new technologies that this company is developing and saw closely the prototype of the unmanned combat aircraft, Kizilelma.
In July 2023, Prime Minister Kurti together with the then Minister of Defense, Armend Mehaj and the Commander of the FSK Lieutenant General Bashkim Jashari, had presented the Bayraktar TB-2 drones as part of the arsenal of our army.
Meanwhile, in November of the same year, the current Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, decorated the Executive Director, Haluk Bayraktar with the “Distinguished Service” medal, which is also the highest military award in our country, for the will, readiness and cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
