The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, held a virtual meeting with the former President of Switzerland, Micheline Calmy-Rey, an unwavering supporter of our country and independence.
Ms. Calmy-Rey, who in addition to being the second female president of Switzerland, previously also served as Minister of Foreign Affairs, shared her knowledge and experiences and expressed her continued support.
The meeting also discussed the strong bilateral relations between Kosovo and Switzerland, emphasizing the common values and historical ties that have united both countries for a long time.
Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude to Ms. Calmy-Rey for the steadfast support she has shown since before Kosovo’s independence, and emphasized the positive impact of her advocacy over the years. He also emphasized that the last three years have marked great progress in the democratic and economic development of our country.
The main issues addressed during the discussion also included the importance of regional cooperation in promoting stability and economic development in the Western Balkans, as well as Kosovo’s ongoing efforts in European integration.
Prime Minister Kurti expressed gratitude for Switzerland’s support for Kosovo’s membership in the Council of Europe, stressing that this step is essential for the promotion of the rule of law and human rights in the Republic of Kosovo.
