Prishtina, 18 July, 2024
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated in the official opening of the “3×3 Prishtina” event. For four consecutive days, the “Zahir Pajaziti” square in Pristina will be the arena of international matches in 3×3 for men and women.
“Many dear attendees who have gathered here in the center of Pristina to support our 3×3 basketball teams, we are opening another edition of the 3×3 Women’s Series tournament and the 3×3 Challenger Prishtina, organizations that we have already turned into traditional for our country, because approximately exactly one year ago we were in the same place together.” said Prime Minister Kurti.
He added that through these events, we are proving that we are a country that knows how to organize international sports events, that we know how to welcome guest athletes, and that we love and live with sports.
“The term “3×3″ describes us as a state, but also these moments in which, with our Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, we are focused in three directions. The first is with our best athletes who are already heading to the Paris 2024 Olympics and there with clear goals for medals. Second, with our commitments to the organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games, preparations for which have already begun. And third, we are continuing to host important events like todays, that is, an international sports event.” the prime minister continued his speech.
As part of this international sports event, where 24 teams from 20 countries are participating, there will be various accompanying activities and games. These events are being organized by the 3×3 Prishtina club, in cooperation with the Kosovo Basketball Federation and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports. Present at the official opening was the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Daulina Osmani.
Prime Minister Kurti’s complete speech:
Good evening, everyone and thank you very much for gathering us in this very important evening for sports, for the internationalization of Kosovo and for inspiring young generations to understand that sport is both health and entertainment.
Dear guests who have gathered here in the center of Pristina to support our 3×3 basketball teams, we are opening another edition of the 3×3 Women’s Series tournament and the 3×3 Challenger Prishtina, organizations that we have already turned into traditional for the country ours, because approximately exactly one year ago we were in the same place together.
With such international sports events, which are a priority of our government, we are proving that we are a country that knows how to organize international sports events, that is why we know how to welcome guest sportsmen, and finally that we know how to love sports and live with sports.
The term “3×3” describes us as a state, but also these moments in which, with our Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, we are focused in three directions. The first is with our best athletes who are already heading to the Paris 2024 Olympics and there with clear goals for medals. Second, with our commitments to the organization of the 2030 Mediterranean Games, preparations for which have already begun. And third, we are continuing to host important events like todays, that is, international sports events.
In these competitions, where 24 teams from 20 countries are participating, apart from the fact that there will be a competition for who is the best and who will win in the end, I believe that we will have a spectacle and beautiful moments for those present, that tonight see them in a dream and we will remember them for a long time in our memory.
Of course, our support and our happiness are that in the end they triumph: our daughters with Enisa, Agnesa, Anila and Anita, and our sons with Adhurim, Amir, Agim and Drini.
In this case, more as a fan in the capital than as a Prime Minister in the Republic, I believe that they will give their best and commit to the maximum for positive results.
Thanks to everyone, for participation, for support, congratulations to the organizers and success to the participants!
