The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, participated in the discussion panel entitled “National Democratic Convention and the Role of Political Parties”. The event was held in Chicago, where the National Democratic Convention is taking place, and was organized by NDI, as part of of the International Leaders Forum 2024.
Before the start of the discussion, Prime Minister Kurti met and talked with the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Jaime Harrison, in the presence of the President of NDI, Tamara Wittes and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of NDI, Tom Daschle.

Part of the panel together with Prime Minister Kurti was the former Secretary General of NATO, Lord George Robertson and the Foreign Minister of Denmark and former Prime Minister, Lars Løkke Rasmussen.

In his introductory address, Prime Minister Kurti first thanked NDI for the partnership with Kosovo and their contribution to our country over the years.

On the subject of the discussion, he said that “Political parties are naturally political. The challenge is how to turn them into social ones. I think this is where our success lies. The three social categories that made our victory possible are women, youth and diaspora. We started by highlighting the contribution of women to society and highlighting the social role of women. On the other hand, having the average age of the population in Kosovo 34 years old, we worked with young people through culture, art, sports and debates on critical theories.”

He added that the constellation of the composition of the Government already has a third of the ministers of the government cabinet who are women, 40 percent of the parliamentary group are women, two out of three deputy prime ministers are women and that we always emphasize that women are often the best leaders and the best organizers.
During the panel, it was also discussed on the ways in which political parties should be prepared and best equipped to face the challenges and threats presented internally and externally.
