Prime Minister Kurti paid tribute to the grave of the former president of Kosovo, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova

On the 18th anniversary of the death of the former president of Kosovo, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the President of the country, Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla and the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, made tributes and placed wreaths of fresh flowers at his grave.

The Prime Minister said that we remember President Rugova for his role and contribution in the internationalization of the Kosovo issue and in the nationalization of civil resistance. He added that as an Albanian writer and literary critic, the historical President Ibrahim Rugova understood like no one else the connection between political representation and popular culture and this was very valuable for the peaceful resistance during the 90s.

Previously, in the morning of today, Prime Minister Kurti, together with Deputy Prime Minister Gërvalla and Minister Çeku, had visited the Rugova family, whom they informed that the works for the restoration of the Residence of President Ibrahim Rugova will soon begin.

Together with the President of the Republic of Kosovo, her Excellency, Mrs. Vjosa Osmani Sadriu and other colleagues from state institutions, we placed fresh flowers at the grave of President Ibrahim Rugova, who is also the first President of the Republic of Kosovo when the republic was republic for resistance to the occupation and apartheid of Serbia in Kosovo, but also the first President of liberated Kosovo.
