Prime Minister Kurti paid tribute in Drenica: The blood of the martyrs is the light of freedom, it is the root of our Republic

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, began the day by paying homage in Gllobar, Verboc and Shtutica, in commemoration of the Albanians killed from these villages and the surrounding areas, by the police and military forces of Serbia on April 30, 1999.

“25 years ago, 276 Albanians were killed, who wanted to live freely in their ancestral land, and their blood is today the light of freedom, it is the root of our Republic, for which we bow eternally and express our gratitude to these families to the martyrs who are always standing strong”, said Prime Minister Kurti.

After the tributes in Gllobar, where he honored the nine killed in that village, and the honors for the 60 killed in Verboc, the Prime Minister laid a bouquet of flowers in the village of Shtuticë. There, Prime Minister Kurti honored the 76 Albanians killed during the war, among them 32 killed in the massacre of 1999. Among them, two are still missing.

Appreciating the great sacrifices of the people in the villages of Shtuticë, Gllobar, Verboc, Baks, and throughout Kosovo, he said that our democratic Kosovo with all-round progress that is strengthening the rule of law, sovereignty, territorial integrity, but also justice and economy, it is the proof that the sacrifice was worth both for liberation and for progress.

We are here in Shtutica together with the teacher Rifat and many families of the martyrs. Teacher Rifat was himself injured. In this village, where a total of 76 Albanians were killed, martyrs and martyrs, in 1998 and 1999, 25 years ago, that is, on April 30, 1999, there are 32 killed here, two are still missing.

In this whole area with the villages of Gllobar, Verboc, Baks and so on, where the civilian population was sheltered, 276 Albanians were killed 25 years ago, who wanted to live freely in their ancestral land and their blood is today light of freedom, is the root of our Republic, for which we bow eternally and express our gratitude to these families of martyrs who are always standing strong.

Kosovo today is a democratic state with all-round progress that is strengthening the rule of law, sovereignty, territorial integrity, but also justice and the economy, so this is a proof that the sacrifice has been well worth it both for liberation and for progress.

Glory to all the martyrs and martyrs of Shtutica, Verboc, Gllobari, Baksi and all our people wherever they are, with these great sacrifices, at such a high price for the freedom we enjoy today.
