Tërnje, Theranda, March 25 2025
On the 26th anniversary of the massacre in Tërnje, Theranda, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, paid homage and laid wreaths of fresh flowers near the graves of the fallen, who were cruelly killed by the Serbian armed forces.
“The blood of the martyrs is in the foundations of the Republic”, said Prime Minister Kurti during the tributes, as he emphasized that we have a smaller, but important part of the work left to strengthen our state, to strengthen the home of the people, ensuring that future generations never have to endure the pain, suffering or loss that we experienced.
The Prime Minister emphasized that 26 years ago, in the spring of 1999, the martyrs and the fallen of the nation were killed, which reminds us of how great the price of freedom was.
He expressed deep respect for Albanian mothers, who raised their daughters and sons to be dignified citizens of the Republic, adding that we bow with deep respect and gratitude, and heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to the freedom of our people and our country.
In these homages, in addition to Prime Minister Kurti, there were also deputies of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Artan Abrashi, Haxhi Avdyli, Albena Reshitaj, as well as family members of the martyrs and the fallen of the nation, veterans and invalids of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

Dear families of the martyrs and the fallen of the nation, veterans and invalids of the Kosovo Liberation Army,
Today, we came to Tërnje to pay tribute to the martyrs of this village who were killed during the spring of 1999. These martyrs, martyrs of the nation, the fallen of the nation, remind us of how great the price of freedom was, which we began to enjoy since June 1999, when Kosovo was liberated.
We bow with respect and also with deep gratitude, and with heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to the freedom of our people, to the liberation of Kosovo.
The blood of the martyrs is in the foundations of the Republic and we have a smaller, but important part of the work left to strengthen our state, to strengthen the home of the people so that future generations will never have to endure the suffering, pain, or loss that we experienced.
In particular, deep respect for the Albanian mothers who raised their daughters and sons to be dignified citizens of the Republic, but also to be great fighters for freedom.
Glory to all the martyrs and the fallen of the nation! Glory to all those who died and were sacrificed for the freedom of the entire people of your village, Tërnje.
