A few hours before the start of the National Democratic Convention where he will be a participant, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, held a meeting with Congressman James P. McGovern. This was the second meeting between them, after the one in Washington, in May two years ago.
First, he expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support of the Congress to Kosovo and for the precious contribution of the United States of America for the independence and state-building stages of Kosovo.
Prime Minister Kurti introduced Congressman McGovern to the democratic and economic progress of our country in the last three years. He said that the international rankings of Kosovo stand as a strong evidence of our advancement as a democratic state, as the Government is maximally engaged in equal distribution of our economic development to all citizens.
Further, the prime minister added that this includes strong support for integration for all communities, and their inclusion within the spheres of social life, both in the economic and institutional aspects. In the framework of some of the measures and policies undertaken by the Government, he mentioned, among others, the reconstruction of houses for non-majority communities and the piloting of the project for joint education between majority and non-majority communities.
Expressing his appreciation for his support and the fruitful meeting, Prime Minister Kurti thanked Congressman McGovern for the conversation and especially for his continued advocacy for justice for the Bytyqi brothers, who were unjustly killed by Serbian forces in 1999.
