Prime Minister Kurti met the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Braže

After the ministerial lunch hosted by the Executive Director of the Warsaw Security Forum, Katarzyna Pisarka, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti held the first bilateral meeting within the framework of the Forum with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, Baiba Braže.

Latvia recognized our independence only three days after its announcement on February 17, 2008 and since then has supported the Republic of Kosovo in its development and membership in international organizations. Expressing his gratitude for the continuous support, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of bilateral partnership and close cooperation in the advancement of common interests and defense, as well as the promotion of the values ​​that Kosovo and Latvia share in the face of dangers from autocratic regimes. In this context, they discussed the ways and possibilities of cooperation and exchange of experiences in the field of defense and security. Prime Minister Kurti thanked Minister Braže for Latvia’s contribution to the security of our country through its participation in the NATO mission in Kosovo, KFOR.

During the meeting, regional developments and the security situation on the continent of Europe were also discussed, as the Russian military aggression against Ukraine continues, and the role and responsibility that European states have to unreservedly support Ukraine in its struggle for liberation. territorial integrity, sovereignty and democracy.

Also, Prime Minister Kurti informed Minister Braže about the developments in the country, the relations with Serbia, the dangers it presents to the Western Balkans due to its close ties with Russia and its direct involvement in the organization and execution of the terrorist and paramilitary attack of a last year in Banjska, during which the police sergeant, Afrim Bunjaku, was killed, while the perpetrators of the attack continue to be free and protected in Serbia and by Serbia.

In this meeting, Prime Minister Kurti was accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Ejup Macedonci, and the head of the Kosovo mission in Poland, Ambassador Drilon Gashi.
