In the capital of France, where he is supporting the Kosovo Olympic team, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, had a friendly meeting with the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs, Bernard Kouchner, at the same time the first Special Representative of Secretary General of the United Nations in Kosovo.
Together they discussed the success of NATO’s intervention in the spring of 1999, as well as the post-war period in Kosovo until the declaration of its independence. Prime Minister Kurti and former minister Kouchner shared their perspectives on the political events of that time frame, the achievements of Kosovo and the international community, and now the successes of the state of Kosovo 16 years after the declaration of independence and 25 years after the liberation of the country. Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude for the contribution of Mr. Kouchner first in the period 1999-2001 in his role as the Special Representative of the Secretary General of the UN in Kosovo, and then during the years 2007-2010 as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France during which time, our country declared its independence and was recognized by France.
Both expressed their satisfaction for the opportunity to meet, since for logistical reasons, Mr. Kouchner, failed to participate in the state organizations marking the 25th anniversary of the liberation, last month. The Prime Minister said that we welcome him to Kosovo as soon as possible.
