The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti together with the Minister for Communities and Returns, Nenad Rashić, welcomed in Pristina for a working breakfast the co-founder and former leader of the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina, Nenad Çanak, accompanied by the Metropolitan of the Orthodox Church of Montenegro, Boris Bojovic. Also at the meeting was Mark Baskin, professor and senior advisor at the Center for Humanitarian Dialogue.

During the conversation, current issues, developments in the region, the ongoing consequences of Russian military aggression in Ukraine and the danger that the war there continues to pose to the security of the European continent and the Balkan region were discussed. Milan Çanak, son of Nenad Çanak, who was also at this meeting and recently returned from a humanitarian mission in Ukraine, shared his experience there and spoke about the situation on the ground, the bravery and high morale of the Ukrainian army in battlefield and for civic mobilization for resistance. The meeting also discussed Kosovo’s relations with Serbia, their history, current affairs and perspective, and the situation of the Serbian minority in Kosovo.

Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine has clearly revealed the dangers that authoritarian regimes present to neighboring countries, in addition to human rights and the well-being of the local population. He singled out the importance of the democratization of societies, party pluralism, the rule of law, the protection and promotion of human rights and regional cooperation in the face of these risks, in addition to the continuous support to Ukraine in its liberation struggle – which the Republic of Kosovo is strongly supporting it with all its capacities.
