The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, received today in a meeting the MEP of the EPP parliamentary group, Lukas Mandl, who also holds the function of the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission for the elections in Kosovo.
The meeting focused on the scope of the EU Monitoring Mission and the electoral reform in the country. They talked about the elections that will be held in the municipality of North Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Zubin Potok and Zveçan and about the importance of their success.
Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that political pluralism is very important for democracy and its development. He also informed him about the appointment of Nenad Rashić, Minister for Communities and Return from among the non-majority Serbian community in Kosovo, as well as about the plans for submitting the application of the Republic of Kosovo for membership in the European Union.
MEP Mandl expressed his satisfaction with the formation of the Ad-hoc Commission for Electoral Reform and gave his support for Kosovo’s application to the EU and the process towards membership.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Kurti was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Kreshnik Ahmeti, while MEP Mandl was accompanied by the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Ambassador Tomáš Szunyog.
