Prime Minister Kurti and President Osmani received by Secretary of State, Antony Blinken

In the light of their official visit to the United States of America, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti and the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani Sadriu, were received in a meeting by the Secretary of the United States of America, Antony Blinken.

Secretary Blinken highlighted the sustainable partnership between the United States and the Republic of Kosovo, and thanked the leaders for their strong support on issues of importance to the United States of America. He expressed gratitude for the hosting of Afghans in Kosovo, the support to Ukraine since the first day of the Russian aggression, and joint work in other aspects.
While expressing the gratitude of the people of Kosovo for the support of the U.S., the partnership and alliance between the United States of America and the Republic of Kosovo was also highly valued. The excellent bilateral state relations and opportunities for advancement, particularly in the economic field, with increased investments and increased trade exchanges, were also highlighted during the meeting.

Prime Minister Kurti emphasized that the Republic of Kosovo is a story of dual success, i.e., the work and endurance of the people and NATO’s intervention to stop Serbia’s genocide against Kosovo, and secondly, a success story of a qualitative democracy that goes hand in hand with economic development.

They also discussed good governance, fight against crime and corruption, economic development and social support as a response to the needs of the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
During the meeting they discussed democratization of the region and strengthening of values and political alliances to face impacts and threats against Western Balkans region. Kosovo’s membership in the NATO’s Partnership for Peace Program, and enhancement of Kosovo’s defense and security capabilities and capacities, were said contribute to sustainable peace and long-term stability of the entire Western Balkans region.

While appreciating the good cooperation with the U.S. in NATO, it was emphasized that defense is an area in which Kosovo has significantly increased its budget. We intend Kosovo’s security to have U.S. as an indisputable, and increasingly stronger partner, said Prime Minister Kurti.

They also discussed the importance of the EU facilitated dialogue for normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia, with mutual recognition at its center, on the path to Euro-Atlantic integrations.

In the meeting, it was reiterated that the Republic of Kosovo has so far engaged constructively and creatively in the dialogue process, and is committed to reaching a legally binding agreement centered on mutual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia.
