Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi sends his best wishes to Naim Tërrnava, the head of the Kosovo Islamic Community, and to all Muslim citizens of Kosovo, on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr

September 29, 2008

Pristina, 29 September 2008

Dear Mr Tërrnava,

It is my honour and my pleasure to wish you and all Muslim citizens of Kosovo all the best for Eid ul-Fitr, both personally and on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.

This occasion is being celebrated for the first time in free Kosovo, an independent, sovereign and democratic state. This is our great achievement, for which whole generations have struggled.

The citizens of Kosovo have always been known for their humanitarian, fraternal values, and religious tolerance, showing themselves to be a society which respects the best achievements of civilisation.

In free and independent Kosovo these values will be cultivated even more. Civil unity, harmony, religious and interethnic tolerance is one of the great resources of Kosovo, a guarantee of our great future.

With the greatest responsibility, Kosovo’s institutions will labour so that Kosovo will develop in all areas of life, so that we may become a part of euro-atlantic institutions as soon as possible.

I have full faith that as you have in the past, you and the Kosovo Islamic Community will today and in the future make your contribution to strengthening the image of Kosovo, as a free and democratic country.

Hoping that in the coming days we will see even more grace, happiness and human kindness, once more, I wish you a happy Eid ul-Fitr!

Hashim Thaçi
Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo
