Led by Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi, the Kosovar Government held its 80th meeting and approved decisions based on its constitutional framework. The recommendation of the inter-ministerial group for the construction of the Vermice-Prizren-Prishtina-Merdare highway was approved and finances were allocated for the rebuilding of houses in the north of Mitrovica.
The Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Fatmir Limaj, informed the government cabinet on the last meeting of the inter-ministerial committee for constructing the Vermice-Prizren-Prishtina-Merdare highway, in which the recommendation to start construction was approved. The recommendation of this committee can be summed up in the committee specifying the financing for the construction of the highway on the basis of a public-private partnership, recommending that there be tolls to pay to use the highway and recommending a short list of companies qualified to build the road.
The Prime Minister praised the work of the inter-ministerial committee and the preparation of the legal framework for the implementation of the project to build the Vermice-Prizren-Prishtina-Merdare highway. “Based on our own capacities and supported by key international factors, we will complete this project which has been a dream of generations of our country. From today, we start to countdown the days until the start of works on the highway, until the fulfillment of this great project for our country,” said Prime Minister Thaçi, in the Kosovo Government’s meeting.
The Government of Kosovo allocated finances of up to 300,000 (three hundred thousand) euros to rebuild houses in the Municipality of Mitrovica. The government reemphasized, on this occasion, that it will continue to support, as a priority, the return of its citizens to their homes and property, as well as improving the climate of security and stability in all parts of the country. The government will also be engaged towards creating a secure living environment for all people wherever they are in Kosovo.
“It has always been our principle to offer support and to create security for all our people to return to their properties and their homes. It is important there is ongoing progress, which should be praised. A good climate of trust has been created between people of all communities in this area. Thus, we have given our full support, and we have taken on the necessary responsibility so that the process of starting to rebuild and return people to their homes and property continues,” said Prime Minister Thaçi.
The government also decided to allocate finances for the medical treatment of the head of the Municipality of Istog, Fadil Ferati.
