Prime Minister Hashim Thaçi hosts extended delegation of Swiss and German businesspeople

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received in a meeting today an extended delegation of Swiss and German businesspeople headed by Swiss Air representative Bruno Gehrig.
 
Accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Mimoza Kusari and Minister for Economic Development, Besim Beqaj, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, after welcoming the Swiss and German delegation of businesspeople discussed with them about the business environment in the Republic of Kosovo.

On this occasion, Prime Minister Thaçi informed the delegation of Swiss and German businesspeople that after the declaration of its independence, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo considers the consolidation and strengthening of the state as number one priority, along a sustainable economic development, increasing of local and international investment in the country, the rule of law, uncompromised fight on corruption and organized crime in the service of accomplishing the standards required for integration into Euro-Atlantic institutions. 

During the meeting, Prime Minister Thaçi pointed out the capital investments by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo in road infrastructure, namely in the Vërmicë-Merdarë motorway, which is an ongoing project being implemented by the noted consortium Bechtel-Enka. Then, Prime Minister Thaçi mentioned the launch of the preparations for the construction of the Prishtina-Skopje motorway, PTK privatization process, as a good opportunity for serious investors to develop the telecommunications sector in Kosovo, then mentioned the successful concession process of the Prishtina International Airport “Adem Jashari”, the energy sector and many other important projects for the economic development of the country. 

While talking to the Swiss and German businesspeople, Prime Minister Thaçi pointed out the commitment of the Government to develop the agricultural sector as one of the most important sectors for the economic development of Kosovo. 

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, briefed during the meeting the Swiss and German investors on the Economic Development Plan of Kosovo drafted by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, by both local and international experts, which outlines the key economic development priorities of Kosovo, timelines for their implementation and consequently a plan that opens abundant opportunities for foreign investors to invest in the Republic of Kosovo. 

Prime Minister Thaçi also stressed that strengthening of the private sector and a legal infrastructure that facilitates doing business and increases new job opportunities will continue to be priorities on the agenda of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo. 

Further on, Prime Minister Thaçi commended on the excellent relations of Kosovo with Switzerland and Germany in all fields of joint interest and reiterated the call on his personal behalf and on behalf of the Government he is leading to all the Swiss and German businesses to extend their investments in the Republic of Kosovo. 

On their part, Swiss and German businesspeople thanked Prime Minister Thaçi for the welcome and expressed their concrete interests in investing in various economic sectors in the Republic of Kosovo.
