The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, along with the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, visited the RWC “Hidroregjioni Jugor” in Prizren to get an in-depth understanding of the performance of the RWC “Hidroregjioni Jugor” and to observe the progress in the implementation of projects supported by the Government.
During the meeting, achievements and the importance of the enterprise for economic development and the provision of quality services to citizens were discussed.
Prime Minister Kurti was briefed on the enterprise’s projects and investments, including infrastructure development in the water supply and sewage network, expansion of quality services and increasing financial performance indicators.
Most recently, RWC Hidroregjioni completed the connection to drinking water for the village of Gërnçar, benefiting 15 thousand families, with a 100 thousand Euro investment from the Ministry of Economy. Additionally, with the support of 102 thousand Euro from the Ministry of Economy, the enterprise is implementing the project for the rehabilitation and expansion of the water supply network in Bllaca of Suhareka. Meanwhile, RWC Gjakova is also carrying out investments for drinking water supply in the villages of Hoçë e Madhe, Zoçishtë and Opterushë in Rahovec, with a 500 thousand Euro grant from the Ministry of Economy. This project is expected to be completed by June 2025 and will improve services for consumers of Hidroregjionit Jugor.
Furthermore, the public enterprise Hidroregjioni Jugor is finalizing the rehabilitation of the sewage network in Prizren with a 5 million Euro grant from KfW, which will allow for more efficient use of the wastewater treatment plant in Prizren, a project inaugurated in 2021, co-funded by the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
In addition to the development of major infrastructure projects and ensuring water supply for residents of the region, for the first time, RWC “Hidroregjioni Jugor” has achieved a collection rate of 104.6%.
Prime Minister Kurti and Minister Rizvanolli thanked the employees of RWC “Hidroregjioni Jugor” for their hospitality and dedication to providing services to the citizens of the region.
