The Security Council of Kosovo was convened today on an urgent meeting called by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, as the Chair of the Security Council of Kosovo.
The today’s meeting of the Security Council of Kosovo addressed the political and security situation in the country analyzing in detail the recent legitimate actions of the government of the Republic of Kosovo in implementing the measure of reciprocity against Serbia at the border crossings in the north and establishing the rule of law and order throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
In a summary of the discussions and in accordance with the circumstances created, the Security Council of Kosovo approved the following recommendations for the security state agencies of the Republic of Kosovo:
1. The Security Council of Kosovo considers that the actions of the state security agencies of the Republic of Kosovo in the north of the country, in order to ensure the implementation of the measures of reciprocity in trade relations with Serbia as well as in establishing the rule of law and order in that part of the territory of Kosovo as fully legitimate and in compliance with the Constitution and the laws in force;
2. The Security Council of Kosovo requires from all security agencies of the Republic of Kosovo to closely coordinate their activities in ensuring the full implementation of the rule of law throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo;
3. The Security Council of Kosovo recommends that Kosovo state security agencies also coordinate their actions with international mechanisms present in Kosovo and which have competencies in the area of the rule of law. This coordination should always be performed only in compliance with Kosovo Constitution and laws;
4. The Security Council of Kosovo, demands from Kosovo state security agencies to maintain the highest level of alert for any need of intervention with all tools available in the event of the infringement of the state sovereignty and the internal constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo.
5. The Security Council of Kosovo demands from all state agencies and from the relevant ministries of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to coordinate and undertake the mandatory actions in order to come to aid the citizens living in the north of the country. This aid should be focused in providing for the needs of nutrition and medical supplies in order to prevent any humanitarian crisis in that area;
6. Kosovo state security agencies should coordinate amongst themselves with the relevant international mechanisms in unblocking roads and in ensuring free movement for citizens and goods. For as long as the blocked roads have not been fully free for traffic, new corridors should be opened up in order to enable supplying citizens with basic items;
7. The Security Council of Kosovo guarantees all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo that it will perform all its Constitutional duties and at the same time invites all citizens to closely cooperate and have full confidence in the state security agencies in establishing the rule of law and order throughout the territory of the Republic of Kosovo.
