Prime Minister Kurti visited the Archeological Park Ulpiana

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Ceku, has visited the Archeological Park Ulpiana, to see closely the archaeological excavations led by archaeologists Christophe Goddard, from the “Ecole Normale Supérieure” University in Paris, Arben Hajdari from the University of Pristina and Milot Berisha from the Archaeological Institute of Kosovo.

A special inscription of Emperor Justinian (527-565) was discovered there last year, which shows his connection with Dardania, the excavations in Justinian’s basilica have been expanded.

Looking closely at the Mosaic made of local stones, as well as other works of art made by people who lived during the reign of Justinian, the Prime Minister said that such evidence illuminates the rich and ancient past of our country. .

This property, at the same time, presents an extraordinary potential for tourism development, transforming Ulpiana into a very interesting destination for local and foreign visitors.

In order to ensure conditions for the preservation and presentation of the archeological site of Ulpiana, we have approved the Management Plan and announced the call for the implementation of this plan, through which we aim at the functionalization and dignified interpretation of this treasure of our cultural heritage.

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to archaeology, including it in the programmatic priorities that provide institutional, professional and financial support.
