In Nish, the sixth meeting for the implementation of agreements on civil registers was held between experts of the Republic of Kosovo and experts from Serbia, with the mediation of EULEX.

In this context, today they made the first certification of the civil registry of Janjeva, in the municipality of Lipjan, while 14,000 registers remain to be certified in the future.

According to the agreement, EULEX is obliged to certify the civil registry in the presence of both parties.

After the verification page by page and scanning of the register according to Kosovo’s model, the certification of these documents was done by the authorized EULEX representative, so the scanned register corresponds with Kosovo’s current database.

Based on the working plan for the implementation of the agreement for the return of civil registers, the tripartite implementation group will meet in the second week of December and in this meeting, it is anticipated that the Serb party will bring a list of all statistics of civil registers taken from Kosovo during the war.

In addition, during the meeting they discussed the modalities of practical implementation and the duration of the scanning process.

The group for implementing the agreement for civil registers comprises Ms. Arjeta Rexhaj, Political Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri, and also coordinator of the group for civil registries, Mr. Shkumbin Kastrati – Director of the Civil Register (MIA), and Mr. Arben Osmani , Expert on software development for the project of scanning the civil register.
