Prizren, 14 February 2024

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister Emilija Rexhepi and the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, participated in the inauguration of Magnetic Resonance (MRI) at the Regional Hospital of Prizren. There he was received by the director of the Hospital, Dr. Narqiza Arenliu and the hospital staff.

After the Regional Hospital of Peja and the Pediatric Clinic in Prishtina, the Regional Hospital of Prizren becomes the third health institution to be equipped with Magnetic Resonance equipment within a period of one year.

The project inaugurated today amounts to 908,653 euros. Investments like this are aimed at increasing quality services and decentralizing services. As a result, apart from the citizens of the Prizren region, which include the residents of the Municipality of Malisheva, Suhareka, Rahovec, Mamusha and Dragash, the citizens of Gjakova and even citizens of Albania from the Kukës District will benefit from this service.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the health personnel, as he thanked them for their commitment, work, and tireless contribution to health. In particular, he thanked the radiologist, Dr. Arta Zhuri Dula, who will make sure that everything goes well with this new device and that we practically no longer have waiting lists, which has been one of the main complaints of citizens in the past.

On the occasion of the inauguration in Prizren, the Deputy Minister of Health, Arsim Berisha and the Director of UHCS, Dr. Elvir Azizi were also present.

The complete statement of Prime Minister Kurti:

We are here in Prizren, to make a very important inauguration for health in our country.

In addition to being committed to increasing quality services, at the same time we are also committed to the decentralization of this quality, so that investments are not concentrated only in the University Clinical Center of Kosovo in Pristina, but also throughout the municipalities of Kosovo, where it is the population of our Republic.

Earlier, we inaugurated the magnetic resonance in the Regional Hospital of Peja, also in the Pediatric Clinic in Pristina, in the KCUC there and today, we did this here in Prizren, a regional hospital, which covers a population of about 400 thousand inhabitants.

Magnetic resonance, which was inaugurated today, cost close to 909 thousand euros, of which 785 thousand euros is the device itself, 1.5 Tesla and the treatment lasts from 15 to 18 minutes.

Meanwhile, the other part, i.e. from 124 thousand euros, was the arrangement of the follow-up infrastructure, including the Faraday Cage, which is located on the walls of this magnetic resonance, which will serve not only the Municipality of Prizren, but also the citizens of the Municipality of Malisheva, Suhareka, Rahovec, Mamusha, Dragash, but, as you know, Gjakova, and also the Kukës District.

Therefore, congratulations to all the citizens and health personnel here, whom I thank for their commitment, the work they are doing, their tireless contribution to Kosovar health, and at the same time now we will not only have the doctor and nurse around, but there will be and early diagnosis, which makes recovery faster and prevents fatality.

With me is the Deputy Prime Minister Emilija Rexhepi, the Minister of Health Arben Vitia, the director of the Hospital, Dr. Narqiza Arenliu, the Deputy Minister of Education, Sim Berisha, but also the head of ShSKUK, Dr. Elvir Azizi. And, in particular, I thank the radiologist, Dr. Arta Zhuri Dula, who will make sure that everything goes well with this new equipment and that we practically no longer have waiting lists, which has been one of the main complaints in the past of citizens.

Thank you!
