Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri delivered a lecture at the Finnish Institute for Foreign Policy

Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri delivered a lecture at the Finnish Institute for Foreign Policy. In this presentation, Ms. Tahiri spoke of Kosovo’s perspectives towards Euro-Atlantic integrations and he reforms being undertaken by the Government of Kosovo in attaining goals of Euro-Atlantic integrations.

She emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Kosovo is working on democratic and economic reforms being ruled by the philosophy of trade economy by providing a favourable and secure environment to all those willing to invest in Kosovo.  According to her, Kosovo has great economical and human potentials for investments and progress has been made in economic growth.

Ms. Tahiri spoke of the government’s engagements in developing infrastructure and areas of economic development found in the sectors of energy, mining, tourism and agriculture.

Reforms in justice, education, economy and other areas undertaken by the Government of Kosovo, according to Ms. Tahiri, have influenced that Kosovo makes progress even in further advancing the country towards the European Union on which we have already begun the Stabilization Association through the feasibility study and we are asking to speed up visa liberalization. She noted that it is unjust that citizens of Kosovo are the only ones in the region not part of visa liberalization.

Ms. Tahiri stated that together with its friends, such as the state of Finland, Kosovo will lobby to affirm the state of Kosovo and this way to increase the number of recognitions in order that as soon as possible we may become a member of UN, NATO and of the EU. In this context, she noted that within a year Kosovo will successfully conclude the supervised independence.

Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister stated that the young state is successfully setting up the architecture of security and aim that in the future it will become  a NATO member and give its contribution in international missions, too.

Appreciation the importance of regional stability, she stated that Kosovo realized the importance of regional cooperation and it is coming out as a serious partner in facing global and regional challenges. Further on she assessed that the region should work on the European agenda and give up hegemonistic dreams.

Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri concluded the presentation by emphasizing that the quick integration of the Republic of Kosovo and that of the entire region into Euro-Atlantic structures is a prerequisite to sustainable peace and stability in the Balkans. British analyst Tim Judah was also a member of the panel at this seminar.
