Under the leadership of Prime Minister Thaci, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo held its regular meeting, at which decisions were adopted pursuant to its constitutional and legal powers.
The Prime Minister, in his opening remarks, congratulated the Cabinet on the joint meeting of the two governments, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo and the Government of the Republic of Albania, which was held in Prizren. Mr. Thaci highly praised the meeting and requested commitment in fulfilling and implementing the signed agreements.
The Prime Minister also appreciated the inauguration of the elected local bodies in the municipalities of North Mitrovica, Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok.
The first decision adopted by the Cabinet in today’s meeting was the final decision on expropriation in the public interest of real estate property owners and interest holders affected by the construction of the pipeline route for the installation of the heating pipeline from the Prishtina Public Heating Enterprise “Termokos Sh.A.” to the Kosovo B power plant in Obilic.
The Cabinet approved the decision for further review of the application for expropriation in the public interest of real estate property owners and interest holders who are affected by the construction of the road that connects the Vermica – Merdare highway with the Prishtina – Hani Elezit highway and M2 motorway.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Local Government Slobodan Petrovic informed the Cabinet on the successful completion of the electoral process in northern Kosovo municipalities. He emphasized that the process of constitution of municipal assemblies in Northern Mitrovica, Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok was conducted in conformity with the laws and Constitution of Kosovo. Even the inauguration of mayors in municipalities Zvecan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok has been regular and in accordance with Kosovo legislation.
Deputy Prime Minister Petrovic stressed that the inauguration of the mayor of North Mitrovica has failed to be in compliance with the law and recommended the announcement of free elections for mayor of this municipality.
Finance Minister Beqaj informed on the visit of the monitoring delegation of the International Monetary Fund to be held in Kosovo over the next few days. Minister Beqaj also briefed the cabinet on the meeting he will have with his Albanian counterpart to discuss the implementation of agreements signed at the joint meeting of the Government of Kosovo and the Government of Albania in Prizren on 11 January 2014.
