Government of the Republic of Kosovo, led by Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, held its 42nd meeting.
In the meeting, the Cabinet approved the Draft Law on Specialized Chambers and the Office of Specialized Prosecutor, as well as the Draft Law on Legal Protection and Financial Support of potentially accused persons in judicial processes in Specialized Chambers.
After approval by the Kosovo Assembly of the Constitutional Amendments, the Government has reviewed the two draft laws approved by submitting to the Assembly of Kosovo with accelerated procedure.
During the review of the Draft Law on Specialized Chambers and the Office of Specialized Prosecutor, Prime Minister Mustafa stressed that discussions were made related to the text of the draft law are made maximum efforts in order the draft law be adapted to the needs of Kosovo and be in accordance with the interests and Kosovo demands.
“I appreciate that our team, together with the Minister, have done an excellent job, with great commitment, it is achieved in Pristina the same what can be achieved even in Brussels, said Prime Minister Mustafa.
Prime Minister Isa Mustafa also said that together with the Deputy Prime Minister and the President of the Assembly have held discussions with Brussels team and have made great effort that all remarks, professional suggestions, to be incorporated in the text.
“What can be achieved is reached. The final decision of what Prime Minister said today in front of you was that the final text to remain the same as the end of May. This text presented to us is a text which has remained as a final text and in which we have not managed to make a difference, “said Prime Minister Mustafa, adding that even today the Government is not required to make such amendments since then will be asked text to be in accordance and coordinated with the European Union.
Financial Support of potentially accused persons in judicial processes in Specialized Chambers, regarding this Draft Law, Prime Minister Mustafa said that it is a practice which is applied by all other countries.
“We cannot consider people guilty until the court declares them as such and we should support all them, that this process be conducted in the proper way, their families to not be charged and not bear the consequences of suspected individuals. We wish that the process is fair and of course the support of the Government in this regard is the support so we can enable this process to be conducted in properly and enable all parties there to have the opportunity to participate equally in a judicial process, “said Prime Minister Mustafa.
