Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri meets ambassadors of EU member states

During her stay in Brussels, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri, had individual meetings with the United Kingdom’s Ambassador, Mr. Tim Barrow, the Ambassador of Italy, Mr. Luca Giansanti and the Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Mr. Václav Bálek. All the meetings focused on the EU-mediated technical dialogue and the Euro-Atlantic perspective of Kosovo. 

Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri said that the Government of Kosovo is highly committed to the technical dialogue in order to achieve concrete results that will contribute to improving of the lives of the citizens of the country, and that will promote good neighborly relations, regional cooperation and will advance the European agenda of Kosovo. The technical dialogue and the progress made represent a serious effort to contribute to peace and stability in the region and to approximate Kosovo with the EU, she said. Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri also pointed out the constructive engagement of the Kosovo delegation in the dialogue and reiterated the position that European solutions are to be reached for the problems, based on EU values and standards, as advanced models in the interest of the citizens and states that aspire to become part of the EU. She further said that the fourth round of the dialogue was the most successful one so far and that the process has entered the stage of concrete agreements, especially related to issues of free movement, free trade, energy and telecommunications, while there has been progress also in the other opened topics. 

Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri also spoke in these meetings about the vision of the Government of Kosovo for a successful state, underlining that Kosovo is in the Euro-Atlantic and in a modern state building era. In this respect, she focused on the overall reforms undertaken by the Government of Kosovo in the field of rule of law, economic development and creation of a favorable climate for foreign investment, public administration reform, etc. 

Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri asked for the support of these respective countries for the integration of Kosovo in the EU and reiterated the call for the removal of visas for Kosovo, entering of contractual relations and facilitation of the process to attain the candidate status for Kosovo through special plans. 

Ambassadors Barrow, Giansanti and Balek highly assessed the reformatory engagement of the Government of Kosovo in the technical dialogue and in the service of good neighborhood and regional cooperation. They specifically acknowledged the opportunity to get firsthand information on the concept and the engagement of Kosovo in the dialogue with Serbia and expressed the strong and firm support of their countries for this important process which will open a new chapter in the relations between the two independent and sovereign countries. The ambassadors confirmed the support of their countries for the integration of Kosovo in the EU, pointing out that Kosovo is part of Europe and that they want to see it fully integrated in the European Union and NATO as soon as possible. 

During the afternoon hours, Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri had a working meeting also with meditator Robert Cooper, and both reaffirmed the high assessment for the outcome of the fourth round.
