Deputy Prime Minister Ramë Manaj meets the Deputy Leader of the Montenegro Assembly, Rifat Rastoder

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Ramë Manaj, met today with a national delegation from the Republic of Montenegro led by Rifat Rastoder, the Deputy Leader of the Montenegro Assembly. Members of the delegation included Fuad Nimani, Minister for Human Rights and Minorities, Dragan Djurovic, Deputy Foreign Minister, Osman Subasic, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Sonja Tomovic, Adviser to the Montenegrin President, and Zeljko Shofranac, Director of the Institute for the Care of Refugees.

On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, Deputy Prime Minister Ramë Manaj thanked the institutions and people of Montenegro for providing shelter to Kosovar refugees during the war and for their recognition of independent Kosovo. Mr. Manaj said that he considered relations between Kosovo and Montenegro to be excellent. These relations, said Mr. Manaj, would soon attain embassy status.

“We are next-door neighbors; we have always had and will continue to have good relations, in order to transform all of the countries in this part of the Balkans into factors of stability, progress and integration,” said Deputy Prime Minister Ramë Manaj.

Mr. Rifat Rastoder, the Deputy Leader of the Montenegro Assembly, said that he was very happy with the meetings he had had with the representatives of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo. He said that he valued the willingness of political leaders to promote the position of Montenegrin minorities in Kosovo.

Rifat Rastoder was also happy with the willingness of his Kosovar counterparts on the subject of the return of Kosovar refugees who are still living the Republic of Montenegro.
