Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri received today in a meeting the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Christopher Dell. Mr. Michael Murphy, Deputy Ambassador, also attended the meeting.
In this meeting it was discussed about the general situation in the country and the recent positive changes made by the Government of Kosovo after the comprehensive actions on strengthening the rule of law and sovereignty in the northern part of the country by increasing security, order and the quality of life for all citizens of the country.
Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri appreciates the high engagements and the continued support of the United States and of Ambassador Dell itself in empowering the state of Kosovo ensuring that the Government of Kosovo is engaged at maximum in building the state on the euro-atlantic principles.
She added that the decision of the Government of Kosovo on establishing trade reciprocity with Serbia was a legitimate decision which resulted after Serbia’s failure to recognize Kosovo customs seals and after a tolerance of three years in the trade asymmetry. Mrs. Tahiri stated that reinstating law and order in the north of the country is in favour to the citizens there and she stressed the readiness of the Government on increasing investments in that area. She also noted that Kosovo remains committed pushing forward its foreign policy agenda on empowering the alliance with the USA, EU and NATO member states and she appreciated the increase of the number of recognitions.
In the meeting it was asserted that exercising sovereignty throughout the territory of Kosovo is a constitutional right of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and that the rule of law and controlling borders are the values by which successful states are distinguished around the globe.
On the other hand, Ambassador Dell commended the Government for the successes attained and invites to increase efforts in improving the life of citizens and empowering the state. He stated that the US will continue to support the strengthening of the state of Kosovo and its way towards euro-atlantic integrations.
