Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri has held meetings in Brussels

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Edita Tahiri, and also the chief negotiator for implementation of the Brussels’ dialogue, yesterday and today has held bilateral meetings with representatives of the European Union.

During this visit, Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri has met with the Director for Western Europe and the Balkans in the EU Foreign Affairs Service, Mr. Fernando Gentilini, and Director for Enlargement of the European Commission for the region, Mr. Jean-Eric Paquet, as well as Mr. Alexis Hupin and Mr. Bernd Thran, mediators on specific fields of the Brussels’ dialogue.

On the agenda of these meetings was the analysis of the implementation of the Brussels’ dialogue agreements, where the achievements were praised and challenges that need to be addressed were identified, and commitments for the future. In these meetings was confirmed that the implementation of the agreement is going well and opted for further implementation of the Brussels’ dialogue agreements.

Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri in the meeting with Mr. Gentilini praised the achievements in the Brussels’ dialogue, on Kosovo’s progress towards European integration, the establishment of European values in inter-state relations between Kosovo and Serbia as two aspiring countries for integration in the European Union; she noted the successful conclusion of negotiations with the EU on the Stabilization and Association Agreement, and in this regard she stated that very soon Kosovo will conclude this agreement with the EU, as well as the progress made towards the long-awaited visa liberalization by the citizens of Kosovo.

Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri emphasised the concrete achievements on the establishment of order and law in the northern municipalities and dismantling of illegal structures in relevant fields, whereas she informed that there are some more issues to be resolved such as dismantling of militia structure, the so called civil protection, conclusion of implementation plans in the field of justice, energy, telecommunication, then improvement of the IBM in permanent buildings, etc. Deputy Prime Minister Tahiri especially raised the issue of new barricades on the Iber River Bridge and requested additional commitments by European Union for their removal and free movement as soon as possible, as it was promised.
