The first Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Development and Dialogue of the Republic of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, received today in a meeting the Deputy Managing Director for Europe of the European External Action Service (EEAS) of the EU, Marko Makovec.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi emphasized the need for the removal as soon as possible of the punitive measures of the European Union against Kosovo, as they continue to remain unjust.
He also emphasized the necessity of our country’s further advancement in the journey towards European integration, especially the treatment of our application for membership in the European Union, where we remain the only country in the Western Balkans still without the status of a candidate country, despite the positive steps and progress, not only in the implementation of reforms, but also high performance in key areas such as the economy, the rule of law, the fight against organized crime and corruption, human rights and media freedom.
The latest developments in the country and the region, the strengthening of regional cooperation, the vision of the Growth Plan as an instrument that should help the convergence between the states of the region, but also with the EU, and the perspective of development and prosperity in our country were also discussed.
Thanking him for the continuous cooperation, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi expressed his appreciation for the always fruitful conversations and wished Mr. Makovec productive visit to Kosovo.
