Address of Prime Minister Kurti at the 153rd meeting of the Government

Prishtina, 26 July 2023

Dear Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and Deputy Ministers,
Dear citizens,

This meeting today corresponds to two important anniversaries of our political and public life.

Five years ago, the outstanding intellectual of our time, Adem Demaçi, passed away. I started the day by paying homage to his grave. The commemoration of his life and work is the best commemoration of service, sacrifice, stoicism and ideal. He spent a total of 28 years in prisons, and remained invincible forever. Faced with the Yugoslav and Serbian oppressive powers over the Albanians, he did not accept compromises with freedom for a single moment, even when his freedom was denied and his life was threatened. Because for Baca Adem, freedom and life were one. Life for freedom. Freedom until death. We bow before his work, with the promise to remain faithful to the teachings and legacy he left behind. In honor of Baca Adem, under my patronage, as Prime Minister, a Memorial Academy will be organized tonight in the Red Hall of the Youth Palace, starting at 19:00.

And a year ago, on the same date and at the meeting of the Government, together we had designated July 26 as the Memorial Day of Policemen who fell in the line of duty.

This date coincides with the anniversary of the fall of the police official, the hero Enver Zymberi. 12 years ago, he was killed by the criminal structures of Serbia during an action being carried out by the Kosovo Police in the north of our country. Enver Zymberi will remain an eternal symbol of sovereignty and legality in the Republic of Kosovo. Justice and punishment for his killers is a must, while the continued engagement of his colleagues in every corner of our Republic is the best example we have among us.
We will exalt and honor his name even today, with the unveiling of his memorial plaque in the Police Camp, in “Belvedere”, which we will call the Police Camp, “Enver Zymberi”.

Today, together with him, we commemorate the 22 fallen members of the Kosovo Police, in different situations, whose sacrifice became an example for the new generations of the Kosovo Police, which are increasing.

Glory to all!

Thank you
