Prishtina, 30 July 2010
Following there are highlights from the address by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo to this meeting
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo has adopted a Sustainable Employment Strategy, and a follow up Action Plan. As of 11 of April 2010 we have started with the implementation of this strategy.
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo, namely the Ministry of Economy and Finance has allocated funds to the line ministries, like the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry for Communities and Returns, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare in an amount of 8 million Euros to finance the planned activities that were not covered by the budget framework.
The implementation of the strategy started in April. We have presented a program to the donors, a report on the developments in this period and a consolidated progress report so that they have all the information related to the developments in this period.
On 10 July we had negotiations with the World Bank representatives on the program document of the World Bank so that everything is ready for the September fund when the World Bank Board will approve the Sustainable Employment Fund. This program, financed by the World Bank, has a fund of 60 milion Euros in grants to be implemented in three years and another amount so called soft loan of 4.3 million Euros, with a 20 years maturity period and 10 years grace period.
Since an agreement with the International Monetary Fund has already been reached, we expect the World Bank Board to finally approve the program so that the disbursement of funds, namely of 20 million Euros, in this sector, starts soon.
