Pristina, January 31, 2025
Honorable Deputy Prime Ministers,
Honorable Ministers,
Honorable Employees of the Prime Minister’s Office and the Media,
Dear Citizens,
We are closing the first month of the year by coming together at the 247th meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, as we move towards the end of this first full governing mandate, that is, with government meetings even more frequently than once every six calendar days. A total of 319 draft laws have been approved in these four years of our governance, and today we have 20 more decisions, for a total of 2181 decisions taken since the beginning of our governance on March 23, 2021.
In this mandate, healthcare, and especially doctors as a noble profession, have been the focus of our policies. We need healthcare that is at the service of the citizen and doctors who work with devotion and dedication. We are continuing our unreserved support by reviewing the request for payment of 224 self-funded specialists, in the amount of 2.3 million euros, for the period from January 1 to December 31 of this year. And our doctors are also compatriots from the Preshevo Valley and Montenegro. For the Valley, it is not enough to only increase the budget by 1 million euros year after year, but we are taking care to support different categories and professions according to the possibilities and the need. Therefore, we are also continuing our support for 30 specialists coming from countries in the region, in the amount of 316 thousand euros, including specialists from the Preshevo Valley and Montenegro.
We are increasing and strengthening our army. More dignity, more conditions, more budget and more armament are being added to the Kosovo Security Force. And on the birthday of our hero, Zahir Pajaziti, on November 1st of last year, we took over Dumosh airport, while today, on the date of Zahir Pajaziti’s fall, we will make a decision on granting the army the use of the land area in Batllava.
For the needs of the Ministry of Defense and the Kosovo Security Force itself, we will use the properties of the Kosovo Forest Agency, namely the socially owned property in Batllavë on an area of 100 hectares, which will be used to increase the operational capabilities of our army.
When we came to power, many highways and roads had remained in a state of delay, hostage to misuse and lack of adequate and professional planning. In order to continue the successful completion of many infrastructure projects, in this meeting, we are also continuing with the expropriations for public interest, to move forward with the implementation of the expansion of the Kijevë-Zahaq Road, the Dollc-Ramun Segment; then the “Entry to the City of Ferizaj” Segment; further, the construction of the Mushtisht-Shtërpcë Regional Road; the expansion of the N25 National Road, the QMI-Lipjan Segment.
As a government, we welcome the ceasefire agreement reached in Gaza, as a result of which the first phase of this agreement foresees the creation of the possibility of sending aid to the Palestinian people. For this purpose, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the Republic of Kosovo will allocate half a million euros in support for the Palestinian people in Gaza. We wish and call for this temporary ceasefire to be used to achieve lasting peace.
Thank you, and now we are moving on to the anticipated agenda items for today’s meeting.
