Eighth Meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo

Prishtina, 28 October 2026

The Government of the Republic of Kosovo held its regular meeting today, at which it:

• Approved the Draft Law on Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the Kingdom of Sweden on Extradition. This Draft Law is linked to the Government’s priorities of strengthening the rule of law, advancing judicial cooperation and increasing the effectiveness of efforts to combat crime. Ratification of the Agreement contributes to expanding cooperation in the field of criminal law and facilitating procedures between the two countries. The Draft Law also serves the process of European integration.
• Approved the Draft Law on Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the Kingdom of Sweden on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters. This Draft Law aims to contribute to achieving the objectives of strengthening the rule of law, advancing the protection of human rights and enhancing judicial cooperation with other states.
• Approved the Draft Law on Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the Kingdom of Sweden on the Transfer of Sentenced Persons. The Draft Law aims to further strengthen international judicial cooperation in criminal matters between the Republic of Kosovo and the Kingdom of Sweden, as well as facilitate legal procedures between the two countries in this area.
• Approved the Draft Law on Ratification of the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between the Republic of Kosovo and the Kingdom of Belgium. The purpose of this Draft Law is to ratify the Treaty with Belgium in order to further strengthen cooperation in the field of mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, including the provision of documents, data, information and objects; the execution of requests for searches or seizures; the exchange of criminal records; the taking of statements; the enforcement of confiscation orders; the temporary transfer of persons in custody; and the establishment of joint investigation teams.
• Approved the Ex-Post Evaluation Report on Law No. 06/L-084 on Child Protection.
• Approved the decision proposing to the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo the appointment of the following members of the National Science Council:

2. Arbnora Dushi, Folklore Studies;
3. Armond Daci, Pharmacology;
4. Arven Syla, Energy Engineering;
5. Besnik Krasniqi, Economics and Entrepreneurship;
6. Emine Kalaja-Hajdari, History;
7. Fetah Podvorica, Electrochemistry;
8. Ibrahim Krasniqi, Economics and Management;
9. Majlinda Bregasi, Linguistics;
10. Mentor Alishani, Veterinary Medicine;
11. Mihone Kerolli-Mustafa, Environmental Engineering;
12. Mimoza Ibrani, Telecommunications;
13. Myzafere Krasniqi-Limani, Electronics;
14. Tringa Dedi, Pedagogy;
15. Valmir Krasniqi, Mathematics.

• Approved the Report on the State of the Environment in Kosovo for 2025, which will be submitted to the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.
• Approved the final decision on the expropriation, in the public interest, of immovable properties, structures (residential, ancillary and economic buildings), agricultural crops and investments belonging to owners and holders of interests, affected by the implementation of the project “Construction of the Korishë–Kabash Road – Connection to Regional Road R-118”, in the cadastral zones of Lubizhdë, Skorobishtë, Korishë and Kabash, Municipality of Prizren.
• Approved the preliminary decision on expropriation, in the public interest, of immovable properties belonging to owners and holders of interests, affected by the implementation of the project “Construction of the Transit Road in Klinë, from N9 to R-1041 Klinë–Gurakoc”, in the cadastral zones of Klinë, Klinafc, Dollc and Dresnik, Municipality of Klinë.
• Approved the decision to conduct further consideration of the request for expropriation, in the public interest, of immovable properties belonging to owners and holders of interests, affected by the implementation of the project “Construction of the Prishtina–Gjilan–Dheu i Bardhë Motorway, Banullë–Bresalc Section”, in the cadastral zones of Smallushë and Sllovi, Municipality of Lipjan.
• Approved the Municipality of Prizren’s request for the allocation of budgetary funds amounting to €1,489,670.00 (one million four hundred and eighty-nine thousand six hundred and seventy euros) for the implementation of the project “Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings in Prizren” through the Investment Clause, in order to fulfil the financial obligations arising from the completed works, in line with the project’s implementation schedule.
