Pristina, 26 October, 2026

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, received the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Astrid de Vries, welcoming her and wishing her success in her new role. Ambassador de Vries, in turn, offered congratulations on the new governing mandate and the election of the President.

Highlighting the goal of expanding the already strong cooperation with the Kingdom of the Netherlands—including in the sectors of renewable energy and agriculture—the Prime Minister noted that efforts are underway to promptly conclude negotiations, sign, and subsequently ratify an agreement on the international transport of passengers and goods.

During this first meeting between Prime Minister Kurti and the new Ambassador, Astrid de Vries, the two discussed political consultations involving the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Kosovo, aimed at enhancing strategic coordination. They also addressed the Government’s priorities for the new term, ranging from railways and dams to reforms in public administration, education, and the justice system. Prime Minister Kurti stated that the Republic of Kosovo values the continued support of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and considers its role essential regarding the country’s status as a candidate for European Union membership, as well as other Euro-Atlantic integration processes. He added that our country is grateful for the Netherlands’ contribution to the training of Kosovo Security Force (KSF) personnel, and that we are prepared to further enhance cooperation in the field of defense.
