Prishtina, 9 October 2026
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, accompanied by the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, attended the opening of the 11th Pan-Albanian Congress of Dentistry.
Expressing his pleasure at the opening of the congress, the Prime Minister said that, in their daily work, dentists see how much dental care can change a person’s life. He added that oral health is an integral part of overall health.
“In this spirit, we have planned and budgeted for the opening of eight dental polyclinics in municipalities across Kosovo. With this expansion, we aim to bring specialist dental care closer to where people live, reducing travel and the burden on families. The next step is to make these facilities operational in existing premises and construct new buildings where such facilities are lacking,” Prime Minister Kurti said.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Kurti announced that the necessary procedures for the construction of the new building of the University Dentistry Clinical Centre of Kosovo had been completed. He added that this investment, together with the integration of modern technologies, would create better conditions for patient treatment and the work of healthcare professionals.
“As a university centre, it has a special responsibility for teaching and scientific research. Investing in it means investing in the knowledge and skills of the generations who will further develop our healthcare system. Dentistry is care and service; it is a profession and a science. Patients benefit when clinical practice, education and scientific research go hand in hand,” the Prime Minister said at the conclusion of his remarks, wishing the participants a successful congress.
Full Speech by Prime Minister Kurti:
Honourable Minister of Health, Dr Arben Vitia,
Honourable Director General of the University Clinical and Hospital Service of Kosovo (UCHSK), Mr Elvir Azizi,
Honourable Director of the University Dentistry Clinical Centre of Kosovo, Dr Mirsad Shkreta,
Esteemed Presidents of the Dentists’ Associations of Kosovo, Zana Sllamniku-Dalipi, Albania, Etleva Qeli, and North Macedonia, Fisnik Kasapi,
Esteemed professors, dentists and healthcare professionals,
Dear students,
Esteemed organizers and guests,
It is my pleasure to open the 11th Pan-Albanian Congress of Dentistry together with you, with international participation.
In your daily work, you see how much dental care can change a person’s life: a child who sleeps without pain, an older person who can eat properly again, a young person who regains the confidence to speak and smile. Behind each of these outcomes lie your knowledge, hard work and dedication. You improve citizens’ health, their quality of life and patients’ self-confidence. For this, I express my gratitude to you.
Oral health is an integral part of overall health. Therefore, access to oral healthcare must be equal for everyone, regardless of income or background, where they live or their ethnic affiliation. This is the responsibility of our institutions and the goal of our investments. Citizens must receive the care they need in a timely manner, and economic difficulties must not become an obstacle to their health.
In this spirit, we have planned and budgeted for the opening of eight dental polyclinics in municipalities across Kosovo. With this expansion, we aim to bring specialist dental care closer to where people live, reducing travel and the burden on families. The next step is to make these facilities operational in existing premises and construct new buildings where such facilities are lacking.
Alongside this expansion, the necessary procedures for the construction of the new building of the University Dentistry Clinical Centre of Kosovo have been completed. This investment, together with the integration of modern technologies, will create better conditions for patient treatment and the work of healthcare professionals.
As a university centre, it has a special responsibility for teaching and scientific research. Investing in it means investing in the knowledge and skills of the generations who will further develop our healthcare system. Dentistry is care and service; it is a profession and a science. Patients benefit when clinical practice, education and scientific research go hand in hand.
I wish you a successful 11th Pan-Albanian Congress of Dentistry.
Thank you!
