In the presence of the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, the Acting Minister of Education and Science, Hajrulla Çeku, and the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Nora Arapi-Krasniqi, signed the memorandum for the restoration of the building of the Albanological Institute of Prishtina.
After mentioning the ongoing emergency intervention for the renovation of the roof and internal gutters, Acting Prime Minister Kurti stated that, through cooperation between the two ministries, the foundation is being laid for the comprehensive restoration of the building of the Albanological Institute as a protected cultural heritage building.
“The memorandum foresees the development and implementation of the project for its full restoration. Beyond the physical aspect of the building, this restoration will also address sustainable functionality, the permanent ethnographic exhibition, and in particular the musealization of the office of the late academician and professor, Rexhep Qosja,” said Acting Prime Minister Kurti.
Full speech by Acting Prime Minister Kurti:
Dear media representatives,
Honorable Minister of Education and Science,
Honorable Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism,
Honorable Director of the Albanological Institute,
Dear researchers and staff of the Institute,
The Albanological Institute of Prishtina is an institution of particular importance for our knowledge, culture, and national memory. Emergency works are currently underway here for the renovation of the roof and the internal gutters. These interventions have been necessary due to the damage caused by rainfall and in order to halt the degradation of this building.
The investment by the Ministry of Education and Science for this phase exceeds €144,000, and from the emergency intervention we are moving toward full restoration. Through cooperation between our two ministries, the foundation is being laid for the comprehensive restoration of the building of the Albanological Institute as a building under cultural heritage protection.
The memorandum foresees the development and implementation of the project for its full restoration. Beyond the physical aspect of the building, this restoration will also address sustainable functionality, the permanent ethnographic exhibition, and in particular the musealization of the office of the late academician and professor, Rexhep Qosja.
The aim is clear: to renovate and restore it according to the highest standards and make it as functional as possible as a contemporary institution for researchers, students, and future generations, given that the development of the Albanian language owes a great deal precisely to the Albanological Institute of Prishtina.
Congratulations to everyone, and thank you!
