Prishtina, 7 May, 2026
The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with colleagues and associates, paid homage at the grave of the hero Bahri Fazliu, at the fallens’ cemetery complex in the Velania neighborhood in Prishtina.
Remembering and honoring his figure, Acting Prime Minister Kurti said that the Albanian nation has Bahri Fazliu, not only a fighter from the first hours of the liberation efforts, but also an example of a young intellectual, an engaged critic, a romantic poet, a newspaper editor and also an organizer and creator of the liberation strategy, through the organization of the people.
Full statement by Prime Minister Kurti:
Together with colleagues from the Government of Kosovo and the Assembly of the Republic, with state officials and activists of the “Levizje” (Movement), with Fadil Fazliu, the brother of Bahri and Fahri, we are here at the grave, where Bahri Fazliu rests peacefully, who was a fighter even before the liberation war.
The Albanian nation has Bahri Fazliu, a fighter not only of the first hours of our liberation efforts, but in him we also find the example of a young intellectual, of an engaged critic, of a romantic poet, of a newspaper editor and also of an organizer and creator at the same time of the liberation strategy through the organization of the people.
Bahri Fazliu rests today here in Pristina between two other personalities, whom he always had by his side. On his right is the martyr of the Albanian people, Fahri Fazliu, who less than a decade before Bahri, in direct confrontation with the Serbian enemy forces, heroically fell together with Afrim Zhitia. Meanwhile, on his left is his inseparable friend Agron Rrahmani. And this advantage that Bahri Fazliu had maximized by organizing the Albanian youth until May 7, 1998, when he heroically fell in battle in Bogiqe, on the border between Kosovo-Albania and Montenegro, against the military forces of Serbia, more than a year before the liberation of Kosovo.
We can learn about Bahri Fazliu not only by reading his biography from historians and fellow fighters, but also by reading it directly, since he left a great treasure of writings, sharp analyses, but also of poems, which are as beautiful as they are inspiring.
Glory to Bahri Fazli and all the fallen of our nation!
