Prishtina, 24 February 2026
Today, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, received the non-resident Ambassador of Canada to Kosovo, Jessica Blitt. This was their first meeting during the new governmental mandate. Ambassador Blitt congratulated Prime Minister Kurti on his new mandate, reaffirming Canada’s continued support for Kosovo.
The Prime Minister thanked Ambassador Blitt for the close cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including defence, where members of the Kosovo Security Force are being trained at military training academies in Canada. He also highlighted the Government’s priorities for strategic infrastructure investments, including dams, stadiums, railways, energy, and mining, as well as increased investment in defence.
Prime Minister Kurti also thanked the Ambassador for Canada’s support for Kosovo’s participation in the Convention of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), which will be held in Toronto from 1–4 March.
A member of the G7 and NATO, Canada is a friendly state and an important partner in defending and promoting shared values. The Government of the Republic of Kosovo will continue working to further expand and deepen bilateral relations between our two countries.
