The acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, welcomed the Commander of the NATO Allied Joint Forces Command in Naples, US Admiral George M. Wikoff.
In their first meeting, Prime Minister Kurti congratulated him on assuming his new position, offering him full cooperation. He emphasized the good communication and interaction of the government with the NATO mission in Kosovo in guaranteeing security and peace for all citizens.
Kosovo is a success story of NATO intervention, liberation and independence, which has become an engine of economic development, a foundation of democratic state-building and an opportunity for social well-being. For this, the Prime Minister expressed the gratitude of the people of Kosovo to the North Atlantic Alliance.
Speaking about the security situation, the Prime Minister underlined the aim and commitment of the Republic of Kosovo for full membership in NATO, as the best answer for lasting peace, long-term stability and security in the region. The Prime Minister added that the security of Kosovo is first and foremost the security of its borders.
The Prime Minister also informed Admiral Wikoff about the actions and results of the institutions in fighting organized crime and the rule of law, as well as investments in defense. He thanked Admiral Wikoff for the meeting and conversation and for the contribution of KFOR, the NATO mission in Kosovo.
