The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Acting Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, and the newly elected Mayor of the Municipality of Fushë Kosovë, Valon Prebreza, attended the signing ceremony of the Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Health and the Municipality of Fushë Kosovë for the construction of the Main Family Medicine Center (MFMC). The new MFMC will cost €2.5 million.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Kurti said that this is good news not only for the residents of the municipality, but also for specialist doctors, nurses, and administrative staff, who will have dignified working conditions when providing primary healthcare services.
“During our mandate, we have equipped primary healthcare with 40 ambulances and 30 vehicles across Kosovo for home visits, while at the same time increasing the budget for medicines for primary healthcare from €11 million, which we found upon taking office, to €24.5 million,” he said, adding that this is the sixth MFMC being built during this governing mandate, following those in Drenas, Shtime, Istog, and Ferizaj, which are under construction, and the MFMC in Mamusha, which was inaugurated last year.
He added that the Ministry of Health had been ready since January of this year to conclude this agreement, but that it had not encountered sufficient understanding at the local governance level. “Now we have guaranteed cooperation and, of course, we will continue to implement concretely and practically what the Mayor of Fushë Kosovë, Valon Prebreza, and the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, have just signed as a joint commitment between the Government of the Republic and the Municipality of Fushë Kosovë,” the Prime Minister continued.
Prime Minister Kurti thanked the Ministry of Health for its close cooperation with the newly elected mayor until the finalization and signing of this agreement.

We are very pleased today to be in Fushë Kosovë, where we were welcomed by the newly elected mayor, Valon Prebreza, and on this occasion the Cooperation Agreement between the Municipality of Fushë Kosovë and the Ministry of Health was signed for the construction of a new building of the Main Family Medicine Center, which will cost around €2.5 million. In this way, care and access will be increased for the residents of this municipality, which is among the most densely populated in our Republic, if not the most densely populated in Kosovo.
This is good news for the residents of the municipality, but also for specialist doctors, nurses, and administrative staff, who will have dignified working conditions when providing primary healthcare services.

This is the sixth Family Medicine Center during this mandate. In Mamusha, the facility has already been inaugurated and is operational, while the MFMCs in Istog, Drenas, Shtime, and Ferizaj are under construction.
I thank the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, the former Secretary, Naim Bardiqi, Dr. Fatmire Mulhaxhaj Kollçaku, the Minister’s Chief of Staff, Egzon Azemi, who have worked closely with the newly elected mayor until this agreement, and now the work begins, which will proceed successfully and as quickly as possible.
