Prishtina, 11 November 2025

Today, the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met with the leadership of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation: Executive Director Melchior Lengsfeld, Regional Director for Eastern Europe Matthias Herr, Director of Helvetas in Kosovo Ertan Munoglu, and Senior Helvetas Officer in Kosovo Mimoza Shehu Musa.

The meeting focused on the long-standing and fruitful cooperation between the Government of Kosovo and Helvetas, which for more than two decades has contributed to economic development, social inclusion, and good governance in the country.

Prime Minister Kurti expressed his gratitude for Helvetas’ contribution to Kosovo’s development processes since 2001, particularly through projects such as DEMOS, which supports 38 municipalities in promoting democratic local governance; GPEK, which assists the transition toward a green economy; and RECONOMY, which empowers women and youth by creating new employment opportunities. He emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in areas that are priorities for the Government, such as sustainable economic development, diaspora engagement, and improvement of public services.

Executive Director Mr. Lengsfeld commended Kosovo’s progress in institutional and democratic development, as well as the Government’s readiness for strategic partnership. He reaffirmed Helvetas’ commitment to continuing its support in the fields of local governance, economic development, and climate change adaptation.

Both parties agreed to continue their cooperation within the framework of existing projects and to identify new opportunities that contribute to improving citizens’ livelihoods and strengthening democratic institutions in Kosovo.
