Podujeva, 1 November 2025
The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Mayor of Podujeva, Shpejtim Bulliqi, and the Acting Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, paid tribute at the “Zahir Pajaziti” Memorial Complex in the village of Orllan, Municipality of Podujeva.
On this day marking the birthday of the National Hero Zahir Pajaziti, Prime Minister Kurti said that Zahir was an extraordinary activist and an indomitable fighter who became a synonym of the call for freedom, together with Hakif Zejnullahu and Edmond Hoxha.
He recalled the January of 1997, when Zahir Pajaziti, not yet 35 years old, heroically fell in confrontation with the Serbian enemy and occupying forces in Pestovë, Vushtrri, after having carried out numerous liberation operations that preceded the glorious war of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
“Zahir Pajaziti is a name remembered and honored by all our people, but in particular, he serves as an inspiration to the Army of Kosovo, to our security forces, to all soldiers, officers, and non-commissioned officers who defend the territorial integrity and state sovereignty of Kosovo, everywhere and at all times,” said Prime Minister Kurti.
Full Speech of Prime Minister Kurti:
We are here together with the family of the people’s hero Zahir Pajaziti, with Bajram and others, as well as with the Mayor of Podujeva, Shpejtim Bulliqi, and the Minister of Culture, Hajrulla Çeku, to pay our respects at the grave of Zahir Pajaziti — the forerunner of the liberation war, an extraordinary activist and an indomitable fighter who became the very symbol of the call for freedom, together with Hakif Zejnullahu and Edmond Hoxha.
I remember well the January of 1997, when Zahir Pajaziti, not yet 35 years old, heroically fell in confrontation with the Serbian enemy and occupying forces in Pestovë, Vushtrri, after having carried out numerous liberation operations that paved the way for the glorious war of the Kosovo Liberation Army.
Zahir Pajaziti is a name remembered and honored by all our people, but in particular, he serves as an inspiration to the Army of Kosovo, to our security forces, to all soldiers, officers, and non-commissioned officers who defend the territorial integrity and state sovereignty of Kosovo, throughout the country and at all times.
Glory to Zahir Pajaziti — on this 1st of November, when he would have turned 63 — and to all the martyrs of the Albanian nation!
