Washington D.C., USA, September 30, 2025
At an event organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in the United States of America, the Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met and held discussions with diaspora professionals living and working there. Present at this reception was also Ambassador William Walker, former Head of the OSCE Verification Mission and a friend of our people, with whom the Prime Minister had a warm meeting at the premises of the Kosovo Embassy.
“Kosovo is an extraordinary example of democracy in the heart of Europe,” stated Ambassador Walker in his welcoming remarks.
In his introductory speech, Prime Minister Kurti briefed the participants on the meetings and engagements held during this visit to the United States, within the framework of the United Nations High-Level Week, including meetings with four senators and six members of Congress, as well as his key points concerning Kosovo–U.S. cooperation in defense and development.
The Prime Minister spoke about developments in the country, the course of this government’s mandate, and the main achievements in the fields of economy, democracy, security, and the rule of law. He said that our country is a two-fold success story: on the one hand, the success of NATO, led also by the United States, in stopping Serbia’s genocide in Kosovo, and on the other, the success of development and democracy, which go hand in hand.
The Prime Minister emphasized that over the past four years, economic growth has averaged 6%, never falling below 4%, while exports and foreign direct investments have doubled. The information technology sector has advanced, now contributing 6% to the gross domestic product. Cultivated agricultural land has increased by 50%, exports have risen, and significant investments have been made in the fields of defense and security as well.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister thanked Ambassador Dugolli and the staff of our embassy in Washington, D.C. for their hospitality and daily work, as well as our compatriots for their commitment and for representing our nation in various professional and academic fields.
