Foundation Stone Laid for the Central Kitchen in Podujeva to Serve 10,000 Children

Podujeva, September 5, 2025

The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Mayor of the Municipality of Podujeva, Shpejtim Bulliqi, laid the foundation stone for the Central Kitchen in Podujeva, which will serve 10,000 children, from nurseries and preschools to grades I–IX.

The value of this investment is €700,000. The kitchen will cover an area of 1,150 square meters and will include a dining hall, facilities for staff and administration, as well as auxiliary rooms.

“This is good news for the well-being of children on the one hand, and for the commitment of the municipality and the government to the rights and needs of children on the other, because we all know that learning depends greatly on students’ well-being,” said Prime Minister Kurti at the foundation-laying ceremony. He thanked everyone who has contributed so far, as well as those who will continue working until the inauguration of the Central Kitchen.

Meanwhile, Mayor Bulliqi said that this was a special moment for the citizens of Podujeva. With this kitchen, he emphasized, children will have the opportunity to enjoy warm meals, thus paving the way toward the introduction of full-day schooling in the municipality. He further highlighted that Podujeva once had only one public nursery, whereas by the end of his mandate there will be nine. He concluded by thanking Prime Minister Kurti and the Government of the Republic of Kosovo for their continuous support for the municipality and its citizens.

Today in Podujeva, the inaugurations of the nurseries in Kërpimeh and Orllan are also taking place.
