Prime Minister Kurti Visits “Greenfungo,” Beneficiary of Solar Panel Subsidy for Self-Consumption Energy Production

Vushtrri, 29 August 2025

The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Acting Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli, and the Deputy Head of the Cooperation Section at the EU Office in Kosovo, Alessandro Bianciardi, visited the company Greenfungo in the Municipality of Vushtrri, a beneficiary of the solar panel subsidy for electricity generation for self-consumption.

During the visit, they observed firsthand the processing and production activities. Greenfungo is engaged in the collection and processing of wild, non-timber forest products. Over 90 percent of its production is exported to Western European countries.

“Our government is committed to lowering the operational costs of local manufacturing businesses, while at the same time helping them access as many international markets as possible for these products, which are both high-quality and healthy,” said Prime Minister Kurti.
In particular, he expressed his gratitude to the European Union for its support and for standing by this highly important sector of Kosovo’s economic growth.

Minister Rizvanolli emphasized that, for the first time in the last two years, the Ministry of Economy has launched calls to support businesses in three areas: efficient heating, solar systems for electricity generation, and solar thermal systems for water heating. The purpose of these EU-supported schemes has been to enable a reduction in energy bills, making businesses more competitive and better able to cope with energy crises, while also increasing the use of renewable resources in the energy sector and the wider economy. Speaking about the broader energy efficiency schemes, including those aimed at households, Minister Rizvanolli expressed satisfaction that EU funds are being channeled to citizens and businesses in the best possible way.

Meanwhile, representatives of the company expressed their gratitude to the EU and the Ministry of Economy for the support provided in subsidizing solar panels, which has resulted in a reduction of electricity costs by 30 to 50 percent.
