Prishtina, 6 August 2025
The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the Acting Minister of Health, Dr. Arben Vitia, together with the Ambassador of Luxembourg to Kosovo, Eric Dietz, visited the ongoing renovation works at the Cardiology Clinic within the University Clinical Center of Kosovo.
Renovation works at the Cardiology Clinic began in July 2025, although the contractual deadline is nine months, the renovation works are expected to be completed within three months.
This project, with a total value of €1.45 million – a donation from Luxembourg – includes the complete renovation of the clinic’s facilities, including the Cat-Lab area, installation of a central air conditioning system, construction of in-room bathrooms for patients, installation of a Call Nurse system, procurement of a new angiograph, as well as training for medical staff and professional exchanges with international experts.
Prime Minister Kurti and Minister of Health Vitia expressed special gratitude to the Government of Luxembourg for its support and contribution to the implementation of this project, which will directly improve conditions for both patients and healthcare staff, and significantly increase the number of cardiological interventions.
Full speech by Prime Minister Kurti:
We are here today at the Cardiology Clinic, at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo, together with the Minister of Health, Arben Vitia, and the Ambassador of Luxembourg, Eric Dietz, whom we sincerely thank for this exceptionally important donation, with a total value of €1.45 million, of which €789,000 are allocated for the new angiograph, and the remaining amount for infrastructure renovation.
The total area of the infrastructure being renovated is close to 500 square meters. The renovation works began a month ago, in July, and although the initial plan was to complete them within nine months, due to the increased intensity of work, we have received the great news that these works will be completed by October this year.
I would also like to thank the economic operators carrying out the renovation works, Director Dr. Faik, and the entire healthcare staff here, whose high-quality work and vital contribution to public health and our patients will now be further enhanced by this investment – a gift from the Embassy of Luxembourg.
On this occasion, allow me to share something I learned today upon arriving here: that it was precisely in this clinic, and by Dr. Faik himself, that the life of Ambassador Eric Dietz’s mother-in-law was saved through a successful intervention. This shows that even when foreigners come here, they are cared for and saved by our doctors, receiving the proper attention and professional intervention. Thank you once again, Dr. Faik.
