Potočari, Bosnia and Herzegovina, 11 July 2025
The Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, together with the Acting Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, and the Acting Third Deputy Prime Minister, Emilija Rexhepi, attended the ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, held at the Srebrenica Memorial Center in Potočari.
Thirty years ago in Srebrenica, one of the greatest horrors of genocide in Europe was committed. 8,372 Bosniak men and boys were brutally and systematically killed. The massacre in Srebrenica was evidence of the terror of the Milošević regime in Bosnia and Herzegovina and a harbinger of Serbia’s genocidal project in Kosovo. The International Court of Justice has recognized the Srebrenica massacre as genocide.
The delegation of the Republic of Kosovo, led by Prime Minister Kurti, laid fresh flowers and paid tribute at the graves of the victims of the Srebrenica Genocide. Prior to that, they visited the exhibition: “In the Footsteps of Those Who Did (Not) Cross” inside the Memorial Center. Open since 2021, this exhibition, curated by Aziz Osmanović, features items that illustrate the suffering of the victims and survivors of the 1995 genocide.
Last year, the Government of the Republic of Kosovo officially declared 11 July as a Memorial Day for the Srebrenica Genocide.
